Hen House

When I was a child, we lived across the street from the freeway. One day a truck carrying crates of chickens lost one of it's cargo. My dad found it, an egg laying hen. He fashioned a house for it from items in our yard and there it lived for at least a year. The excitement of egg retrieval is something I vividly remember. With all this talk lately about backyard coops, I've been thinking...maybe that backyard structure I want could be a chicken coup. I'll have to check our city ordinances.
