The Latest
Let's talk about TRADhome, the latest online magazine. The premier issue is pages and pages long! This is my favorite one. I love the texture of the rug and scale of the weave in the rug. I really want to know if it works as far as walking on it barefoot. The couch is beautiful and is nearly identical to one that a friend of mine is working on re-upholstering now ( I can't wait to see what she does with her's). Above all though, my favorite is the wallpaper and the way the mirror looks up there with all those circles.
In a Nutshell
About Easter, it all worked out. I used brown and cream ticking stripe fabric as my table covers which will be used for various sewing projects now that Easter is over, making it doubly useful and therefore economical. My youngest sister brought more of her beautiful lilies which I placed in two french flower market buckets that are typically used in my office as wastepaper baskets. I was successful in my flower hunt, found orange(ish) ranunculus at Trader Joe's and roses in a similar color at Safeway. Each of these was put in old mason and juice jars which I keep on hand in large quantities exactly for this purpose. Used various flower patterned vintage china plates to serve dessert. Our menu consisted of all of our family favorites specific to this holiday. We do not vary the menu at all from year to year. It's perfect just the way it is. Forgot that I wanted to take a picture of the table to share here until it was not in good taste to do so. Maybe next year.

Dedication
Today is a dedicated lazy day. I intend to spend the entire day in bed watching movies and eatting left over deliciousness from Easter. I promise to fill you in on that tomorrow. . .

Easy Does It
I've been thinking about the Easter table. I'm trying not to get all crazy like I do most years, trying to do too much to make the day perfect. I've got my fingers crossed that Trader Joe's has some beautiful and inexpensive flowers because really, flowers can go a long way towards making a day special in a way that doesn't involve much work at all.

Infatuation
I'm not yet over my infatuation with chalkboards and I'm beginning to think that I may never be. Maybe chalkboards should fall into the category of classic...I don't know, I'm a bit undecided. I've added a gigantic one to my eldest daughter's room and a little one with a wooden frame to my dining room. Neither have been drawn on but I'm working out the plan for each. Top on my list for the dining room, are flowers, labeled. Just as is shown above.

In Review
I was able to see the Bill Cunningham Documentary yesterday. I really did like it. I find Mr. Cunningham admirable for many reasons. His documentation of NY street fashion is amazing. He is someone who lives following his passion and is successful because of that. The measurement of his success is not in money made or objects acquired, but in his body of his work, the respect he has earned because of that work, his dedication to his trade and what appears to be an incredible amount of integrity and humility.

I love this look from Anthro, makes me reconsider my personal opposition to wearing prints.

Research
We've been busy working on problem spots in the house this week, believe me, there are many. One such spot is a medium sized corner of our open loft. I had been thinking of using a corner kitchen bench and rectangular table (here). But I'm liking the versatility and soft rounded lines of this kind of arrangement for that space a little more. The table could be used simply for display or cleared off for a round of games and the stools could easily be pulled over to the sectional (also up there) when the kids have their friends over. I'm sure in the end, it will all boil down to which table I stumble upon first for the right price...next to nothing.

Hunt
I really want something like this but simpler in style (all I really want is a shield) for my the space above my fireplace. I have been searching for quite a long time and may have finally come up with a workable plan.
