Weekend Plans

Heading to the Renegade Craft Fair in S.F. on Sunday. I'm so excited! What about you, what's on the agenda this weekend?

*This sewing machine is one that I fell in love with but left behind at the thrift store, I keep the picture as the wallpaper on my phone.

Wants, Needs & Desires

Oh, the layers and layers of plants here! From the moss between the pavers to the ivy climbing up the walls and the succulents in between, this is a good look.

In Detail

A map of Paris from an Encyclopedia published in 1896, this is a treasure indeed. I'd love to see it enlarged and framed!

Found Objects

I found a small Blue Jay feather as I was rushing out to pick up the children today and put it in a drawer to look at later. Who knows what I'll do with it but it was such a joy in that moment.

Similarly

Something like this, in all of those open spots we talked of earlier today! What else? Maybe wax envelopes full of seeds, garden journals, the change jar, books of course and so much more.

Sorted Out

A desk piece like this with all of the mailbox slots, would be so much fun in a large entry or just about anywhere for that matter. It seems like it could come in very handy for display or just for stashing.

Dear Blue

I know that I've made it a point to say (repeatedly) that I'm of the rare variety of girls who is not generally a fan of yours but there are instances when I can be persuaded to change my opinion of you. Certain shades, used sparingly, in the right setting, really do interest me immensely. I know that you understand.

Already

Looks like a(nother) perfect weekend place. This weekend I'll be squeezing in the last bit of true summer feel before sending the children back to school on Tuesday. What will you be up to?

Enthralled

I need to expand my vocabulary so that I can adequately express the way I feel about this piece by Amber Alexander. "Love" just seems to fall short. . .

Enthrall(ed)- to hold spellbound; captivate.

Note to Self

Do not waste any more time searching for a long dresser for Husband's side of the room when what you really need is this. Hidden storage, height, and exposed shelving for pretty things. Do keep in mind the dusting though that would go with this sort of set up and try to find something with shelves that aren't too deep! A couple of drawers would be handy too.

Simple Style

Simple, pretty ideas like these will get my approval every time.

Simple Treats

We have a local family owned nursery with the most beautiful grounds. Some days I go just because. I walk around and look at all of the plants to see if there are any that I haven't noticed before or maybe one that I've seen many times will spark my interest and become the perfect solution for a problem spot in the yard. I visit with the owners. I study their space and try to imagine how I might be able to recreate that sense in my own yard. I leave feeling calm and excited all at once. It's one of my favorite places. I think I'll go today.

Adored

Uhm, could this be any cuter? The concept is adorable and the color choices are perfect. Created by Allan Peters, available soon here.

Productivity

On today's agenda: make some kind of pretty hanging piece for the younger girls' room to hang over their desk, look pretty and utilize the pink pom poms that are no longer in use anywhere else but still too pretty to throw away.

Contemplating

Thinking about this. I really like the shape of the letters, the scale and the color but I'd have to have a different word. I don't know what though.

Form & Function

As unnecessary as it may be to have a pretty laptop, I do wish that mine to looked like this.

Match Making

These two places were meant to be together. I'm sure of it. How much fun would it be to fill both of them up?! Where to start. . .

Things I Want

An outdoor shower would be so much fun. I know that my children wouldn't mind cooling off there on 100 degree days even though they'd rather do that in a pool. Our yard is just not big enough for a garden and a pool. Forwarding this idea to Husband. It looks certainly looks simple enough to do without much fuss.

Show & Tell

Chris, of Pristine Christine, was kind enough to send me some photos today showing how nice my fabric print, L'abeille is as a finished project. Chris chose to have the printing on a cream colored cotton fabric that has a super soft feel. I think it looks great in her window seat and I am very proud. I just had to share it with all of you. Be sure to visit Chris' blog to see more pictures of her home.

Please Note

Please note the sign above the door. I still love the idea of a home that has a name. Ours still does not have one. I think that in the end it will be "Grey Gardens", as unoriginal as it may be, it does fit.

Backyard Perfection

The best thing about perfection is that it comes in so many different styles. It can be manicured or overgrown; flower filled or purely green bushes. There's no limit.

Left Hanging

This photo display is one that I love. It's interesting and would be inexpensive to create. The metal piece could easily be found at the hardware store as could the clothespins. Purchase wooden ones to make a monochromatic one like this so that they could be painted or use the multicolored plastic pack to have fun with a color photo display.

Return

We've been back in town since late Friday night and practically all I've done is laze around. Vacations are exhausting, fun as they are. I have been productive though, managing to read an entire book in three days like I used to before the internet, "Wednesday Sisters", which I really think is a good one.

Doesn't this bedroom look like a reader's paradise? The only thing I would change is to make a spot to sit up in bed, there's no where to lean. Oh, well. The wallpaper, the bedding, the art and the books are all fantastic. It just begs for whole days spent indoors, reading and napping between chapters. Which really would be a great kind of vacation to take every once in a while.
