Lazy Days

I hope your weekend includes sleeping late and enjoying lazy breakfasts. Mine certainly will.

Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

Often when I am reading a book I think about the impact it has on me and who I am. Right now I am listening to an audio book of Barbara Kingsolver along with her husband and daughters, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle. I highly recommend it especially the audio version in this case more so than the book. It's so personal that way. The book is about this family's year of eating local foods. It has an amazing amount of information about how our food culture has changed in the last hundred years or so and how it's coming back around now.

What impact do I think this book is having on me? Well, maybe we'll plant some more vegetables into that new backyard garden and expand our little postage stamp veggie garden a bit.

A House With No Name

{Pantile Cottage from Math Paul's photostream @ Flickr}

This adorable home has a name. I want a name for our adorable home. I've been waiting for just the right one to come to me for a couple of years now. I've just shared this information with Husband this evening so maybe he'll come up with something. I know he'll be able to think of little else until it's decided.

*Update-I've mislead you...this is not my house but one I admire.

Little Yellow Bird

Right now I am LOVING the art of Joetta. The thoughts expressed in her art are ones that many of us can relate to at some point. These pieces and many more can be purchased from her Etsy shop, Bird and Bear and be sure to check out her blog, Little Yellow Bird.

In the Garden

We're in the planning stages for the garden still so I'll be collecting my favorite images to compile from them the most perfect garden for our space.

What is it that I love about this one? The brick path, the layering of the hedge and the greenery on the arch and especially the way that the path leads to the house in the background.

Enjoying the Journey

Family friends packed their two children (ages 3 and 3 months) into their car, attached a trailer to the back loaded with all of their belongings and started a trek across the country from Maine to California. This is a perfect travel journal for that trip although I'd imagine they might need a few extra pages because it had to be quite an experience!

A Mere Formality

Miracles do happen! Husband is excited about my idea for a formal garden in the back yard rather than grass with flower beds on the perimeter. Now, mind you, I've been bringing up this idea about every 6 months for the last 3 years. I know that persistence pays off.

Now for the list. I'm making it big, I think I'll end up with more that way. We need a fountain, a bird bath, a koi pond, a shaded sitting area, a small house looking building (I'm not sure what for quite yet) and lots and lots of plants!

Stuck on the Moon

Wouldn't this would make an adorable adjoining bathroom to yesterday's post?

Little One in the Moon

Oh, the room that I might put together around this beautiful baby bed! I'm seeing black and white striped walls, a plush carpet and not much else. I guess you really wouldn't need much decoration with this as the focus.

Simply Elegant

Simply Elegant posted this week about this space and I've been stuck on it. I grew up in an old house with paneling and doors like this and so it's what I long for. I know it's cliche but just look at it. Wide planked wood floors, dark wood door with panels that compliment those similar to it on the walls. The color of the room, the light fixtures. . . and on and on I could go. Beautiful.

Prepared

I try to carry a soft tape measure with me always. I have them in my purses. I have one on my desk. I keep one on the table next to the couch so when I'm shopping on line and I wonder 'how big is that, exactly?' I can figure it out. This is so me.

Work

I think I'll have a name plaque made for my office desk, upstairs, in my house. I love it. It's so official.

What Day is It Anyhow

My posting will be a little sluggish for the next few days as I try to get out of this perpetual Saturday feeling and back on a schedule of some sort. I love this image by Photo Zoo as I can totally relate.
