What is it about empty frames that makes them so fascinating and endlessly interesting?

Collected

Maybe you are like me and have many ideas, mostly of the fragmented variety, scribbled out on index cards and jotted down in various note books. . . how great is this "idea" journal to keep all of those thoughts in one place?!

Found

I've finally found a daybed for our backyard, something I've been dreaming about for at least 2 years. We have the perfect spot for it under the eaves, which means it will be in the shade on summer afternoons. I plan to spend quite a bit of time there reading books and watching our garden grow.

The Weekend

This week has flown by! I'm a bit behind today, I've been busy packing. We're heading to Asilomar for a weekend stay. I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to it, it's such a restful retreat with beautiful architecture. It's Arts and Crafts style was designed between 1913 and 1928 by Julia Morgan, the first woman to earn a degree in architecture from UC Berkley. I find Julia Morgan to be a fascinating and inspiring individual and Husband's field of interest is architecture so I just know that we are going to have a great time exploring.

I'd love to hear how you will be spending your weekend! See you back here on Monday.

Well Worn

Neglected? No, this kitchen corner seems aged to perfection. I never tire of the worn out look and when it's authentic, it's even better.

Casual Friday

I have am experiencing a love for these two sweatshirts that is totally uncharacteristic of me. I'm usually more of a cardigan sweater or cute coat kind of girl. But I'm thinking that a pullover with a cut neck and great big print would have been perfect today when I was working in the yard and I'm sure that I could use one walking on the beach at Asilomar with Husband next weekend. Either one would be perfect for that.

Form and Function

"They" say that indoor plants improve the home's air quality. So, this boxwood is doing double duty; form and function.

Here

A view from our front window. . .little did we know when we put a large fountain there, that it would be such a busy place. There are 5 different kinds of birds who visit daily for a drink or a bath. It's one of our favorite things.

Next

I can just feel spring in the air and when I do, I remember that it's my favorite time of year. Although, I think I feel that way at each season change. Maybe it's just the idea of change, the newness of what is ahead that I like so much. No matter, I'm getting excited. There's so much to do in the yard, and that's really how I like to spend my time, outside, with dirt under my fingernails.

Confession

All that knitting talk around Christmas time never amounted to much more than two half finished projects now laying temporarily abandoned on bedside and couch side table tops. Suddenly, warm woolly socks seem like they may be a more fulfilling project idea.

Warmth

There's a definite difference in the feelings I associate with white as a color as opposed to the color cream. Such subtle shade variations but while white is definitely "cool"; cream says warmth to me.
