The Power of Persuation

A pretty picture can almost convince me to change my mind about opinions I cling to fiercely. An example, high gloss paint, it looks amazing in this hall and even has a functional quality in adding much needed light. I must say, I'll still be hesitant to try it in my own home though, mostly because of the ever depressing orange peel textured walls I'm forced to live with forever. I do hold out hope that one day they (the orange peel textured walls) will be featured in a picture with just as much power to persuade as this one.

*By the way, the rug? Madeline Weinrib, of course.

I left a painter doing my bedroom once, and came home to find that he'd used the white semi-gloss for the trim on the walls. It felt like I was living inside a refrigerator, so I had it repainted. I think I'd like it now in a summer house and in my kitchen and dining room. It does show every little imperfection and you need many layers.

I love doing semi-gloss all over, but our new place also has awful textured walls and the gloss would just highlight them. Isn't it tragic? Let me know when you find a persuading image : )

This really is a lovely image. I feel that generally you see high gloss walls in modern, stark spaces. I love how in this use the overall space still has a transitional feel and has a lot of warmth. Thanks for sharing!
