Stuck in the Mud

It's been raining here quite a bit. I'm not complaining. We really need it. It does however make it a bit difficult to begin a yard redo. The rain has however given us more time to think and plan. Isn't this garden lovely?

A Head Start

I never know what I want until it's too late. So here's the start of next years' wish list.

It's Begining to Look a Lot Like?

I mentioned to Husband, a civil engineer, today that I think he should build me some houses so I can make these. To my surprise, he got right on it so I will soon have an adorable, nearly free collection (or set depending on how long it holds my interest). I've been in a Christmas decorating slump but no more. Yeah!

If you love them and want to save yourself the trouble of making your own, my new favorite online site, Jayson Home and Garden, offers them prefabricated with free shipping and they're perfect.

On the Calendar

Lots of calendar options going around lately. This one's my favorite. Just spotted it today on the Etsy front page, it's definitely worthy of front page status. Get yours here.

Supporting Education

You can see that I'm very much into organic art pieces this week. These are just too good to pass up. Not only are they fun to look at, they are exceptionally well priced. Find them at And Wabisabi's Etsy shop and support an undergrad in illustration design.

Dreaming Again

I truly think that my life will not be complete until these are sitting on my white sofa complementing my zebra print chairs.

Why Didn't I?

This is the kind of thing I see and adore and wonder, 'Why didn't I come up with that idea?!' New Roccoco chalkboards at See Jane Work. Two styles and so many possibilities. I'm thinking the office would be so glamorous with this addition.

Decidedly Undecided

I though I was 'over' Pier 1. Now, I'm not so sure.

Fall Wardrobe Needs

It was 95 degrees here today but I have started to research my fall wardrobe needs. I love fall itself but being tall makes clothing fit a little difficult and this is somewhat accentuated in the fall/winter months with long sleeves, jackets & pants. This year however, I am particularly inspired and looking forward to pulling together a bit of vintage classic style(that 3/4 lenght sleeve helps).

I'm also thinking about how I might bring some of this look into my living space. Ideas?

Trophy Trend

Since we're talking about trends, how about trophies?! I for one am absolutely in love with vintage trophies right now and I know I'm not the only one based on the bidding wars for them on ebay. I was able to find an adorable tiny one for our store but as of yet I have not found a great big one for home. I'll probably have to buy a reproduction to hold me over until I find one at a price I can justify.

My favorite reference to trophies right now though is from a commercial for a new show. Man asks woman what she does, she looks at him like he's an ignoramus and says in a duh tone, "I'm a trophy wife." I LOVE that!!

A New Adventure

The items above are the first items to be listed in my brand new Etsy Store, Two Tall Girls. I have teamed up with a friend, Rebel, who is as into design and all things home decor as I am so it only seems logical that we go into business together. We have been having great fun gathering our items and staging them for photos was a blast! I must admit it was a struggle not to keep anything for myself! In addition to the shop, we will be keeping a blog of our adventures and more design musings as we go along. This is going to be fun.

If Only

Choosing carpeting is such a daunting task for me. Five years ago, Husband and I went to a flooring store to choose carpeting for our addition. I thought it would be simple. I liked the color and style of our existing carpet so it seemed logical that we would simply find the same thing and order. Wrong! There were thousands of choices. I was overwhelmed. Typically I know what I want and where to get it. Carpet is definitely out of my comfort zone. We ended up choosing a mid length shag that we thought would be perfect and modern and it is in some of the areas we have it in but in the children's room it's just bad.

Now it's time for new carpet in the living room and bedrooms (large tile everywhere else) If I could find wall to wall in this cozy style from Room and Board, a cable rug, I would be sold. It must be available somewhere and I just haven's seen it yet. I'm on the look out.

At Etsy

Samples of artwork found at the Mincing Mockingbird. Some are frameable prints, some are magnets. Some of the prints have a dark humor, some are just pretty. This one's hilarious. It's a magnet. Wouldn't it be perfect holding phone messages?!
