Superficial

If I were the type of girl who'd judge a book by it's cover, (wait, I am) I'd be very interested in each of these.

Get Yours

Two beautiful pieces from Modish Vintage & here's a picture of my treasure. Not nearly as pretty as these two but he certainly has potential.

Limited

More and more, I am damning my orange peel textured walls. Who came up with that brilliant idea anyhow? As limitless as the beauty that can be created by stencils, stripes and wallpaper are, they are however, limited to use on smooth walls.

This Morning,

This morning, time is not my friend. I'm not a morning girl. I sleep through Husband's alarm every day. It takes me until about 11am to be ready to be productive. School has begun though. It's week two. I love it. But, my first class is at 9am today. That part is the challenge.

Maybe

Hmm, maybe less is more. Would the clothes I actually wear look more beautiful if they weren't crowded by all the ones I don't? Maybe.

Fact

I want this, made big, hanging in my house somewhere. I'm going to see what might be done about that.

Imagine

So many things to love in just one room; black cabinet, deep gold rug, exposed brick, wooden ceiling beams, wide plank floor. Oh, my.

Success

I've managed to pull myself out of a reading rut. I think I'm a reader again (sigh of relief). It was getting pretty bleak. I was disappointing in myself for neglecting my love of reading but now that's over. How do I know? Because as soon as I finished the 700+ page book I was reading today, I immediately thought to myself, "What next?"

I tell you all of this, not so you can applaud my menial success but only so that if you too have wanted to start reading again, you might get a little nudge in that direction.

Addition

The sum total of these three items would be so romantically adventurous. My weekend plans are that glamorous but I am looking forward to it none the less.

Spunk

This floral wallpaper is so fun and just feels spunky to me. It's just the style floral I'm searching for to use in the bedding in the room of our oldest.

Naturally

Beautiful. This life cycle chart can be found at Topsy Design.

Time Will Tell

This is one of my favorite images and that seems somewhat absurd. It's a mess but it's just beautiful. I wonder to myself, "Is this something you can really replicate or does is it something that you should allow to happen over time with the collection of individual, naturally beautiful pieces?"

Of Course

If the outside of said shed looked anything like these two. I'd be okay with that too.

Really

I need a potting shed. This image makes my heart beat fast.

Tuesday

It's wet and windy outside. On days like today. Everyone in our family thinks immediately of food and spending time in the kitchen. Today, maybe we'll spend an hour together after school on a cake. My day seems brighter all ready.

Things I Want

1870's Tortoiseshell Pique Earrings. Lovely and so versatile. They could be worn with an everyday outfit or a little black dress and be appropriate to each.

Fix

If I were to make a spot like this in a corner here, it would help satisfy those winter gardening urges!

Blues

I miss being outside working in the yard. It's been gray here nearly every day with the exception of today and I didn't even take advantage of it. All day I kept thinking maybe I'd go out and work on the yard a bit to enjoy the sun but it didn't happen. Maybe there will be another chance tomorrow.

Form or Function

There are many days (like today) when a beautiful vintage umbrella would serve more than one purpose. 1. Keep my dry. 2. Make me happy (to look at it, to use it, to have it). A small collection of them would even more fun. Of course that would make it necessary then to have a pretty vintage umbrella stand, wouldn't it?!

No Explanation

I won't try to explain it, I'll just say. Art displayed on wooden hangers works.

Input Requested

Ok, I have a request. I'm hoping you might help me with it. Here's the background, I have 4 children, they are getting older. One of them is almost half way through high school which means that she will be coming up to big life decisions soon (time goes so quickly, you know). Decisions about what she wants to be when she grows up. I'm 34 and I haven't cemented that decision yet. As children/young adults I think there are so few occupations we are aware of, firefighter, doctor, banker, chef might be about it. I want my childrens' options to be many. So, tell me (annonymously if you prefer) what do you do? What awesome jobs are you aware of now that you would never have known about in high school. I'd greatly appreciate any input.

Pondering

I found an eagle just like this only a little smaller. I can't decide if I should buy it or not. It's very reasonably priced. Maybe I only like it because I saw it in a magazine. Maybe I shouldn't have it because I have a federal bullseye mirror and that would be too much. Maybe I should have it for that very same reason. Maybe most people don't spend so much time pondering such ridiculously unimportant things. What do you think? Can it be used elsewhere and for only $10 should I just get it and if it doesn't work for me, I can gift it to my brother or sell it, right? Right.

Dark

These dark walls look so smart. I think I'd like dark walls best in a home library or study. Somewhere I'd want to just get lost in a book or keep focused on a project.

Field Trip

Collections are amazing. I love them to bits. One of my favorite things is visiting estate sales and getting a glimpse of who the person is/was by seeing what it was that they collected. I often think when I see a collection of gardening books or eclectic odds and ends that we most certainly could have been friends. So, needless to say, I'm very excited about Lisa Congdon's latest project, A Collection a Day. Let's make it a daily visit.
