Two weeks ago I spotted a daybed at the thrift store. I've been wanting one for the backyard. It was $30. I didn't buy it. Today I saw it at the antique store for $200! It wasn't as cute as this one is though so maybe I'll be luckier with the next one I spot.

*I adore the white pouf under the table.

A Garden Visit

Reading about this garden is as beautiful as looking at it. It's sounds so romantic. Be sure to visit. You will enjoy the outing.

When in doubt, empty frames are a sure win. Especially in a group.

The Compulsive Part

Today I feel an unexplainable urge to paint my fireplace. It's enormous and it's one of my biggest design challenges. I think paint would do wonders.

Wants, Needs and Desires

Bell'occhio is one of the resources listed in Home Sewn. Perusing the online shop, I've decided that I want, need and/or desire every item there and that I most certainly, desperately need to visit the shop in person.

I love a painted front door, it's such a personality piece. I long to paint mine. It has a great shape that would be showcased more with paint than it is leaving it lacquered wood. Nailhead trim like the top photo and a great knocker are a necessity too!

Looking For

Finding butterflies just like these is my current obsession. Husband painted my bike, a garage sale treasure, and now it's a vintage cutie (I'll try to post a picture tomorrow). These butterflies may have been added just for the picture but I think it'd be worth a shot trying them on for good. If you know where I should look, do tell.

Not Your Average Shed

How's this for backyard interest! Can you imagine? I'm not usually a big fan of blue but I do love the way this blue looks in amongst all of that greenery. My goal in life is to make my yard into a beautiful disaster. This little corner is along the lines of what I'm thinking. Maybe a little more disastrous though.

A Confession

I have virtually no pictures of the family displayed anywhere in our home. Really. There is one on a shelf in the living room and a grouping of silhouettes in my bedroom. That's it. I am thinking about how fantastic this grouping looks though. I love the atypical arrangement. That I could go for.

Oh, Husband. . .

Doesn't this look like a quick and simple project that would immediately improve our long hallway?! Found at The Estate of Things (a new favorite).

Come In, The Door Is Open

Every home should have a front porch or some kind of separate space to walk into, take off shoes and bags. Drop them, shut the door on them and then enter the house free of all worries and heavy loads. Tile like this in such a space certainly would add to a happy to be home feeling.

{Cottage Living}

A little bit of green goes such a long way. Not that a lot of green isn't good but it sure is nice that it doesn't have to be all that much to make an impact.

*I'd be so happy to find the green leather on this bench for my headboard!

In Review

As part of our (non)travel plans this week we are taking a look at Italy. Monday morning we headed over to the library where we stocked up on as much information as we could find about this destination. It wasn't much as our library is undergoing a renovation and so is temporarily housed in a small space with only a small selection of books. Anyhow, this book, My Italian Garden, happened to be one of the few there and it is fantastic! I will be purchasing one for my self. It has great recipes and an overview from the author on which plants to have in the garden each season. Plus, the writing style is excellent.

Travel Plans

Florence, Paris, Greece, Capri. I won't be traveling to any of these destinations any time soon but I do intend to do a bit of research this summer for future trips. There's no expense in that.

Black. White. Yellow.

{Flickr image found via Black. White. Yellow.}
Take the Black and White mentioned previously, add yellow to the equation, and you find a fabulous, relatively new blog, Black. White. Yellow. Go there. You will love it. I do.

There's nothing wrong with keeping it as simple as black and white.

I've been craving color lately. Here's a nice little dose.

Camping Modified

I like camping but there's all of the stuff that goes with it. Staying in a yurt or a tent cabin simplifies the process tremendously. Doesn't this look like the perfect summer retreat?!

I found a wooden headboard for $15! Here are some of the beautiful rooms I found while researching how I will upholster it. I've decided on a white faux leather. As soon as it goes on sale, I will have a quick and simple project to do with what I expect to be fantastic results. And of course as one thing usually leads to another, painting is now high on my list of priorities as well as some new draperies for the master bedroom. I'll keep you posted.
